MBA journey !

Last year about this same time i made up my mind to get inside an MBA college by 2013. First i gave my GMAT got a decent score of 730, applied to ISB got, got the interview call but then couldnt clear the interview.
Then in the mean time i also gave CAT, got 98.28 percentile and converted IIT Delhi DMS, IIM Ranchi, IIM Raipur etc. Now i have paid the first installment of fees for IIT Delhi and for IIM Ranchi, Joining date for Ranchi is 13 June and for IIT Delhi is 20th July and i still don't know if i am going to join any of them or not an if i am going to join then which one !

I am confused weather it makes sense to go for a two year  program with 4 years Workex. I dont want to change my sector, i want to work in Oil gas and energy sector in the management domain. I wanted to do an MBA to make this jump from Engineering to Management. Not sure if a two year program is right for this or not.

If i don't do it now then the only option i have is to apply  next year for a one year Mba Program.

The Bitch called 'maturity'

When do you get it?
How do you get it?
And how the hell do you know that this is it?
Is it the age that does it?
Or the societal cage that does it?
Or the six digit wage that does it?
Or do you just fake it?
Knowing you can get away with it?
But do you really need it?

'Being Dumb' v/s 'Being Numb'

Bold is Cold

There’s a story that needn't unfold
A bit of truth that needn't be told
There’s a time when the heart ain't gold
A moment when it mustn't act bold
There’s a need, my tongue I must hold
A day when I need to shiver in cold

Perception

"Your own body is a phantom, one that your brain has temporarily constructed purely for convenience"

If we were to list down one thing that we never doubt and which defines reality for us it will be perception how we perceive ourselves to be and how we perceive the world around us to be. We feel our emotions, sensations, voices, movements are real. What if its not ? What if instead of having 2 arms and two legs all we are is actually a yellow colored blob ?

“Indeed, the line between perceiving and hallucinating is not as crisp as we like to think. In a sense, when we look at the world, we are hallucinating all the time. One could almost regard perception as the act of choosing the one hallucination that best fits the incoming data.”

Their are certain people who feel certain things which others don't. A guy who lost his arm could still feel its presence, he could even move it and feel like picking up things with it. A person whose brain was excited in a certain region could feel the table placed 6 feet away from him to be a part of his body. These are some of the examples given in   Phantoms in the brain : V.S. Ramachandran

This book deals with the mysteries of the brain, how our brain manipulates us. It is possible that all our responses, our actions, our feelings are part of a large complex algorithm and the thing we call our will or choice might not actually exist. It tries to explain the usual behavior by studying the people who depict unusual behavior. Can you actually believe that their is a certain portion of brain which can make some people more religious ? Why do we smile when we see some one ? The origin of laughter ?

The Storm Steps In

There was a time when I used to write loads of poems, random poems, incorporating lots of rhyme and life. And then came a lull. Busy days, homemaking, raising a kid, daydreaming, and lazying around. I ignored the words that struggled to come out of my heart. Trying to get back to my old form now.

Here's my first attempt at a Nonet, and I hope you enjoy it. Nothing fancy, but just a random description of a storm stepping in.

flashes of light in the dull gray sky
nothing like the light of the sun
flocks of birds flying back home
nothing like the morning
thunders shout out boom
stark clouds of gloom
silent rain
confused
night

We created this blog to relive our old blogging days, the golden days when we were connected with words, and only words. Yes, we are busy people now, busy and social, very social, especially on Facebook and its likes. Still, I urge you all (and myself) again to write here, as little and as much as you can, any random stuff, just anything. Let us give our words more importance than the clicks and likes! :)
